Happy Bank Holiday everyone! I’m back with yet another brunch post for you hungry lot today. Heading back to West Hampsted, this time reviewing a well known cocktail bar that has recently launched their very own brunch menu. Heads & Tails is a stones throw away from West Hampstead underground station and makes for the perfect spot for a weekend catch up with friends. I headed there along with my friend Natalie to enjoy some delicious food and cocktails, here’s what I thought…

The setting is gorgeous, a real sophisticated/minimalist set up giving that millennial vibe with crushed velvet seating and rose gold fixtures. It’s light and bright and feels opening and inviting as soon as you walk in. A quick mention to the staff (particulary Max) who are incredibly well informed and offer recommendations based on your likes and dislikes at the drop of a hat. It’s very clear they all have a passion for everything they serve and want to show the menu off to its best. The brunch service operates every Saturday and Sunday from 10am til 3pm. A  bottomless offer on Prosecco and Clementine Mimosas is also available! This is just £25 and can be ordered with the purchase of a main brunch meal. We however wanted to try a selection of the cocktails and so opted against the bottomless brunch and instead started with – a Bloody Mary and a Clementine Mimosa.

Food wise the menu has been made for you to build. You order one ‘main’ and then add your additions to create your ideal brunch. This for me is such a bonus as I’m often one of those people that will order something from the menu but have to switch items out due to intolerances etc. So being able to order exactly what I want was a huge positive and perfect for any picky eaters out there! Each main costs between £5 – £7 with additions costing between £1 – £3. I’d personally say two additions per main would be the standard amount however if you’re hunry the menu allows you to add as many as you’d like. I went for the scrambled eggs on sour dough adding avacdo and merguez (sausage) as my additions, Natalie opted for the same however ordering the shiitake mushrooms insted of the avo. Price wise it came to £11 each which is pretty standard for a london brunch. I was very full afterwards so I’d say it’s money well spent. We also got a granola to share as it came highly recommended and was a nice, sweet ending to the brunch, for £5 I would highly recommend.

I will say the eggs for me could’ve been fuller (if that makes sense) as it was more of a scrambled egg like sauce but saying that, it still tasted amazing. The sour dough was perfect, I often find it can be too hard but this one was great and completed the rest of the food perfectly. The food not only tasted really good but looked good too which is always a bonus. we had another couple of cocktails opting this time for the West End Spritz and Celmentine Garibaldi and I’d say out of the five available on the bruch menu the Celementine Garibaldi and Apple Spritz were my favourites. For £5 each I thought the cocktails were extremely good value for money, especially when you can often find yourself paying up to £13 a cocktail in some London based restaurants.

All in all both Natalie and I had a delightful afternoon and Heads & Tails, the location although quiet a distance from where I live is super easy to get to (literally opposite the station) it is certainly worty the trip. The menu had been well put together, offering a variety of differnt options enabling you to really create yor dream brunch. Cocktails I’d give a huge thumbs and keep them up for the amazing staff. Price wise, it’s not the cheapest however I do thik it’s worth the money and you deffinately leave leaving full and a little bit tipsy. It was a great Saturday spot and I’d go back again in a heartbeat – www.headsandtails.bar
