WHO DA BEST? BUDAPEST! – A GUIDE TO HUNGARY’S CAPITAL

 …Catchy title eh?

Hello you gorgeous group of humans, thank you so much for stopping by once again to read my ramblings.

Today’s post is about the wonderful city of Budapest. Invited by the lovely team at the Corinthia Hotel, myself and my bestie Lee went to explore the Hungarian capital for a long weekend. If you fancy seeing what we got to then click along to youtube to watch my latest travel vlog and whilst you’re there – hit the subscribe button (pretty please!)

So first things first… the hotel. Now having been to the Corinthia Hotel in London I knew I would be in for a treat. The Corinthia Budapest first opened in 1896 as the Grand Hotel Royal and it
remains among the grandest in the city. Meticulously renovated, the
hotel’s rich history blends seamlessly with state-of-the-art features,
such as an original 19th century spa, elegant eateries, two bars and the city’s largest hotel conference facilities. Our room was beautiful and the bed was super comfy which is always a bonus. We were even left a little chocolaty treat each night which (obviously) I loved! Everything about the hotel and the building as a whole was stunning. The architecture, the music – I was serenaded by the hotels resident band one evening at the bar!

The food and the fabulous cocktails were also a highlight. From the burgers at the bistro to the steak and traditional Hungarian goulash at the Brasserie and Atrium restaurant were each bite was perfection! Lastly I must mention the Royal Spa. Located on the bottom floor of the hotel the spa offers treatments ranging from facials to massages. I opted for a 50 minute deep tissue massage and my goodness I practically felt reborn! Following it with a swim in the pool and a chill in the jacuzzi… bliss!

We managed to fit quite a bit in during our stay. I’d say my top trip highlights and things I would definitely recommend if you find yourself booking a flight there soon are –

The Dohány Street Synagogue

Also known as The Great Synagogue or Tabakgasse Synagogue, is a historical building in Erzsébetváros, the 7th district of Budapest, Hungary. It is the largest synagogue in Europe and the second largest in the world. It seats 3,000 people and is a centre of Neolog Judaism.

Széchenyi Thermal Baths

Built in 1913 it is one of the most visited and much praised
attractions in Budapest! Relaxing, fun, affordable and at night,
romantic. In addition to the marvelous medicinal natural hot spring
waters in the 18 pools, there are 10 saunas / steam cabins, several
massage therapies, facial treatments, and more.

Budapest, Állatkerti krt. 9-11, 1146 Hungary

A couple of other, much smaller things that I still think warrant a mention are the infamous ruin bars and nightlife in general in Budapest. The Hungarians know how to party! Also make sure to pop into the Ruszwurm bakery for some traditional Hungarian pastries and sweet treats.

All in all I had a great time. Another country checked off the list and another culture experienced. Thank you so much Corinthia Hotel for having us and for showing us the best of what Budapest has to offer!
