When the sun is high and the weather is fine ...yep, you heard me. The weather has been KILLING it recently and by 'killing it' yes I do mean the odd, occasional day of gorgeous 30 degree weather; sandwiched in between downpours of torrential rain. 
But hey, this is Britain and thats just how it is. Although of course I'd love there to be a full six weeks of uninterrupted summer, thats just unrealistic.
So when we do get a day (or sometimes two) of sunshine, I get out my prettiest of summer frocks, a statement pair of sandals and some cool shades to celebrate!

With that said, I wanted to share with you my ultimate summer dress.
The softly draped silhouette, the floral detailing and a cheeky side split are just some of the reasons I am so in love with this dress. I've worn it a few times now and each time I feel pretty darn fabulous! The colour brightens up and situation, adding a pair of super-cool polarised Raybans (literally obsessed) and a pair of bang on trend pom pom sandals to add that little bit of extra sass.

Boden AW16 'Johnnies Milk Bar'


I thought I'd quickly write a mini post of sorts, giving you a sneak peek behind the scenes of the recent Boden AW16 press day. 
Boden is known for its colour and this upcoming season does not disappoint! Set in 'Johnnies Milk Bar' the event was full of goodies and yummy treats as well as a collection I just can't wait to get my hands on. The patterns, the cuts, everything was just so right!

Supper Club - The Punchbowl : Mayfair

Childhood favourites, for me memories of yorkshire puddings, sunday roasts, fish and chips and of course birds eye trifle come to mind.
A few weeks ago I was invited to the Punchbowl - Mayfair to their monthly supper club.
Hosted by Oliver Healey the group and I where taken upstairs to the stunning private dining room situated on the top floor of the building and led through a culinary journey of four courses and their accompanying drinks each expertly paired, including wine and cocktails crafted specially by in-house experts to complement the old time favourites.
The theme for this months club was indeed 'childhood favourites' and I was delighted to see that many of my favourites had made the menu.

JUNE: CHILDHOOD FAVOURITES

For June’s Supper Club, we’re taking you back in time to your childhood with an inventive 4 course meal of nostalgic British dishes given a modern twist by our Head Chef Mark Caplin.

For the main event, we’ll be taking some of the greatest British dishes and telling stories about the fond memories they evoke. Here’s a little look at the menu, see if your favourite is there…

THE MENU

‘Drunken Toad in the Hole’ – mini Yorkshire pudding, Guinness onion puree, O’hagans wild sausage, topped with stout Welsh rarebit and black chives crips
Starter
Starter British Lobster scampi, pea and parsley licker, tartare crisps & mash (refined)
Main
A mixed grill of British meats
Pudding
Wild raspberry roly poly, hundreds and thousands, homemade ‘Bird’s Eye’ custard ice cream
To kick things off we started with a champagne cocktail 'Citrus Chandon Cocktail,' the ingredients of which (champagne and lemon sorbet) sound simple but certainly made quite the impression and is something I can't wait to recreate. We then were served out first course.
The appetiser - 
‘Drunken Toad in the Hole’ – mini Yorkshire pudding, Guinness onion puree, O’hagans wild sausage, topped with stout Welsh rarebit and black chives crips
Now for people that know me , this is pretty much a winning combination as far as I'm concerned. I must admit it went down very quickly, wetting my appetite for the meal ahead.

In between courses we enjoyed the musical stylings of singer/songwriter Bea Munro (definitely a name to look out for in the future) singing a range of originals and covers. Her voice is something rare and beautiful, almost from another time. It was the perfect accompaniment to the evening and something that really set this supper club apart from the others of its kind.
The starter - 
British Lobster scampi, pea and parsley licker, tartare crisps & mash (refined)
 A twist on good ol' fish and chips. Although I personally don't eat shell fish, I was told by my friend that it was amazing. I instead went for the vegetarian option - 
Goats cheese and pistachio bites, mixed garden salad
It was so good!
The goats cheese perfectly blended, with the pistachio adding a twist. This was paired with 'Domaine du Columbia, Burgundy, 2015,' a beautifully crisp white wine.

Now for the main -

Meat feast!
Sorry for any veggies out there, a gorgeous vegetarian wellington option was also available -
But wow! Five meats, one plate, all served along side triple cooked chips, béarnaise, portobello mushroom, grilled tomato and English mustard mayo...I mean?! The meat - minted lamb cutlet, hickory glazed pork ribs, venison & red wine sausage, smoked gammon croquette and lemon & mustard steeped was all cooked to perfectiot and bursting with flavour. This course literally had my mouth watering from the first bite to the last. The main was paired with 'Senorio de Unuela, Rioja, 2009'  a hearty red wine.

Finally dessert -

As soon as I read the menu, this was the course I was most looking forward to!
I really do have the biggest sweet tooth and so would like to think of myself as quite the connoisseur whine come to desserts. This one got top marks, the birds eyes custard flavoured ice cream was amazing! So much nostalgia with each bite, its a flavour I've never seen created with ice cream before, but it's such a winner! The sponge roll was soft with the raspberries and cream giving a nice kick to the overall taste. 
Paired with a raspberry tom collins, a twist on the old classic rounding off the night perfectly.

Overall the experience, food, drink and entertainment was second to  none. A gorgeous setting and a wonderful host, I would highly recommend booking in for the next one!
