Restaurant Review : MI + ME

Situated on the upper concourse of St. Pancras International Station, MI + ME is named in homage of the Milk and Meat carriages that were first used by railways in the Victorian era to transport fresh produce speedily to the city.
The seating is casual and low key with the hotel and station providing a beautiful view. A small yet satisfying menu promising the best of British produce, with foods ranging from beef brisket to mac and cheese.
Whilst browsing the menu and debating over which dishes to try, we ordered our drinks. 2 x gin and tonic cocktails (which are bottled in house each day) £5.50.
For our starter we decided to have one of MI+ME's specialities - a meat and cheese board tailored to your personal preference. We went for the '2 cured meat and 2 cheese board' £15. With help and recommendation from the head waiter Serhan we went for...
Cheese -
Rosary soft, get, hampshire
Elmhirst soft, cow, devon
Meat -
Suffolk chorizo
London culatello ham
This was accompanied by pear jelly, creamy butter, walnuts and freshly baked bread.
Presented on aluminium trays, the selection was excellently picked and put together with each flavour complimenting each other perfectly. The bread was warm to the touch, fresh out of the oven allowing the butter to melt away instantly. Both the meat and the cheese  was delicious and got a big thumbs up!
Now onto the main. A fairly easy choice for us. For Izzy the 'Beef brisket and cheddar burger with fries' £11.50 and for me (as I'd previously heard rave reviews) the 'Classic 3 cheese mac and cheese' £7. We decided however to do half and half so we could both try each dish. Whilst waiting for the food  to be cooked and giving our belly's time to rest, we ordered another round of drinks, this time 1x Wu gang chops the tree hefeweisse beer £5 and 1x Cubra Libre cocktail £5.50.
On to round two!
The mains. The burger was cooked to perfection with the cheese melting away on top. The fresh tomato, onions and lettuce - crisp with the garlic aioli soaking its way in to the sesame seed bun.  Our mouths watering, it didn't take long before the burger was no more but not to worry, it came with a side of thick potato fries...spot on!
The classic Mac and Cheese, having heard rave reviews about it, did not disappoint! Gooey, creamy cheese surrounding the macaroni pasta, finished off with breadcrumbs and baked with a side of grilled garlic thins. The flavour was amazing and the crumbs added a marvellous crunch. It has to be said, its it one of the best mac an cheeses I've ever had!
Now you'd think after that amount of food we'd  call it a night and we were so close but...time for pudding!
The lovely head waiter insisted that the apple crumble was one that just had to be tasted. I wouldn't say it was the hardest of sales pushes, what can I say? We love food! So with a quick nod we decided not to be too glutenous and order one between us.
Served piping hot with a mini glass milk bottle filled with freshly made vanilla custard on the side. The apple crumble lived up to Serhan's high acclaim. The smell made my mouth water and the tate was a burst of flavour, combining the ripest of apples and cinnamon amongst the crumble. Although at this point fit to burst, we managed to eat our way through the majority. It was a wonderful end to the meal, giving us that little bit of sweet to even things out.
All in all we had a wonderful evening. The food was top notch, the drinks fresh and thirst quenching and the overall ambience and manner the waiting staff delivered was lovely. So whether eating in or taking out I'd definitely recommend MI+ME for a quick lunch, a catchup meal with friends or a pre travel bite. Your belly will be satisfied and your smile beaming.

Hey guys
So I thought it was time to officially introduced you. Meet the new love of my life, sorry coat! I totally meant coat...oh whatevs, truth be told I'm having a serious love affair with this little dream boat.

This ankle length, deep sky blue, alpaca coat is by Riani and is currently my absolute pride and joy. I got it as a pre-christmas treat for myself and its become the perfect statement piece, adding instant sass and fabulousness to each and every outfit.
Here I've worn it with skinny black jeans from Prey of London and a print pattern shirt by Chinti & Parker. Finishing off the look with these gun metal brogues (caught at a steal for £15 in the River Island sale) and grey woollen winter warmers, the hat featuring a pom pom bigger than my face!

It's the perfect outfit for this ever changing and transitional weather. The coat is warm but not too heavy and when the sun does start to shine it's off with the wool so I'm just left with a bright and fresh winter/spring look. I'm almost dreading the day summer starts and my love and I have to do long distance...I'm tearing up here!

So there we have it, you're introduced. The coat and I have been going steady for over a month now and we couldn't be happier....weird? Kinda, but ah well.

Sometimes you just have to stop

Just a few more emails, a couple more hours, one last thing...STOP!
I'm currently writing this post in bed. I've spent the last week fighting off a real stinker of a cold. Trying to ignore it and attempting to carry on as normal, despite sneezing every two seconds and having barely any voice left.

Then I thought to myself yes, I probably could power through and splutter away at my desk not giving myself a proper chance to get better or, I could listen to what my body is telling me and just stop. Take a pause, take a breath, rest and let myself both mentally and physically recover.

And so from the comfort of my bed (having spent the majority of the weekend here) I've been eating soup, drinking hot honey and lemon and not sending a single email and I feel tonnes better for it!

Sometimes it's ok to put you first and take a break, listen to your body and do whats healthy. I'm pretty much back to my normal self now and ready to get back to the desk, write some amazing content for you lovelies to read  and tackle my ever-growing inbox....gahhh

Oh England, I just can't keep up with you, A couple of weeks ago it was lovely weather and now its bloomin' freezing! This week (although the sun has been shining) it's been bitterly cold however, I've been super equipped for said cold weather thanks to my hefty collection of winter coats.
I rocked this look on a recent trip to Portobello market, one of my absolute favourite places in London. There's nothing I love more than wondering down the long street leading from Notting Hill, taking in the beauty of the surrounding houses (someone please buy me one...I mean) and browsing the beautiful antiques. Stopping off along the way to grab a bite and pick up some vintage records and books to add to the collection.
For such an occasion comfort is a must. So a trusty roll neck jumper and roll up jeans make for the perfect pair and of course where would I be without statement coat? This one from Topshop had my name written all over it! A cool yet super comfortable and practical market day look.

The Lipstick Diaries - YSL Rouge Pur Couture

Photography by - Timothy Peacock

Simply put, this Yves Saint Laurent lipstick is a beauty must have!
Its so luxurious, a gorgeous true red colour which is actually red, not pinky red, not orangey red, not browny red but actually just true, pure red. It adds that touch of glamour to your everyday makeup as well as brightening up your face the moment you apply!

The Rouge Pur Couture is great for oh so many reasons, the colour saturates your lips while protecting them from the sun (a sneaky SPF 15) it also hydrates your lips with its natural extracts and hydro-spheres which is great if like me you get dry lips. When applying it feels like velvet, soft and creamy, making it easy to apply...it practically glides on giving a satiny matte finish. I will say however the longevity isn't the greatest so definitely take it with you when going out so you can reapply.

Of course for me I just love pretty looking lippies and this one is a beaut! The packaging is stunning, encased in gold with the monogrammed YSL logo on front, oh so classy and chic. The perfect little treat to add to your make up bag.

Over and out,
Little Miss Winney x

Ey up you lovely lot!
I'm quite partial to a monochromatic look so I thought it was time to post another one. Please no one call the colour police, I swear my life is full of colour but when it comes to clothes sometimes a simple black and white outfit does the job perfectly!

Somewhat a simple look, I paired together a leather skirt (bought for a steal at £12.99 from TRADE charity shop) with this Chanel inspired jumper. I love a collar so popped a river island short sleeved shirt underneath to create a layered look.

Adding a pair of quirky specs (obviously) to add a touch of quirk that I love to have in every outfit I wear. These beauties from London Retro at Glasses Direct are awesome with a super cool silver aviator bar making me look all 'hip'...well probably not but I think they're pretty cool anyway!

Over and out,
