Wine Tasting At – Vinopolis

My best friend Lee recently celebrated his 25th birthday and to commemorate this joyous occasion we decided to go wine tasting at London’s famous Vinopolis in London Bridge.

It is something we have wanted to do for such a long time and so when we finally got there my friends and I were buzzing with excitement.

As we were there for a special occasion we decided to get the ‘quentissential’ package which included 16 wine tokens to be enjoyed throughout the tour.

The tour started with a talk and quick how-to lesson with one of the wine experts. Teaching us how to hold the glass correctly (by the stem – so to not warm the wine) how to judge the strength of the wine (by looking for its legs) and how to indicate the different tastes and scents each individual wine has.

After the lesson we were set free to walk around the wine cellars and pick which wines we’d like to taste. some costing 1 token other (more speciality/rare wines) costing up to 5.

We tried a range of red and white wines before making our way into the champagne section to try some vintage bubbles. To finish off we headed down to the spirits section and sampled gin, vodka and absinth.

Top – Zara

Skirt – H&M

After all that alcohol we found ourselves needing something to soak it up, so off we went a mere stroll across the road to Borough Markets Southwark Tavern. A classic british pub with good music and a great atmosphere. We feasted on flatbreads, mine a simple Garlic and Mozarella and Holly’s a parma ham and cheddar. Both where cooked to perfection, and exactly the carb load we needed! The sweet potato fries where crisp and oh so tasty, then we topped it all off with just a little more wine. I mean now we know how to correctly taste it…..it would be rude not too!

Over and out,
