bareMinerals - Makeup Review

So as you may or may not remember, a few weeks ago I was invited along to bareMinerals' 'California Road Trip' event to celebrate their 20th anniversary and launch of their latest foundation. (see post here)
I was lucky enough to be given the new 'Blemish Remedy' foundation to take home and try before it lands in stores in September as well as one of their current best sellers - 'Complexion Rescue.' So as promised here's my bareMinerals makeup review!

Blemish Remedy-
(Shade - Clearly Porcelain 01)

The new kid on the bareMinerals block, 'Blemish Remedy' was created to soothe, calm and control problem or oily skin. Now I have to admit, I am extremely lucky and don't really get too many blemishes and my skin is more normal/combination as oppose to oily but non-the-less I've still had great results!
The foundation is a gentle, using aspen bark and tea tree oil that works to conceal imperfections and promote the appearance of clear skin, along with aloe-vera to soothe and hydrate. Using the new seamless buffing brush I just popped it onto the mesh, tapped off the excess and then buffed it into my skin in circular motions.
I found it to be great on pores - very minimising and mattifying - without drying.

Complexion Rescue-
(shade - Opal 01)
It was only a couple of years ago that the hype around CC/BB/DD creams went off the scale! But after trying sooooo many I was always left a bit disappointed.
I'm not a huge day to day makeup wearer and so I tend not to wear too much foundation, but I'd still like some coverage to perk up my complexion. This is why I think I've truly found my makeup soul-mate!
The bareMinerals 'Complexion Rescue' is a tinted hydrating gel cream, with SPF 30 (which is great for us pale peeps.) It's basically just a very, very good tinted moisturiser.
It's super hydrating and gives just enough coverage to give your skin a quick pick-me-up giving a healthy, dewy finish.

Wine Tasting At - Vinopolis

My best friend Lee recently celebrated his 25th birthday and to commemorate this joyous occasion we decided to go wine tasting at London's famous Vinopolis in London Bridge.
It is something we have wanted to do for such a long time and so when we finally got there my friends and I were buzzing with excitement.
As we were there for a special occasion we decided to get the 'quentissential' package which included 16 wine tokens to be enjoyed throughout the tour.
The tour started with a talk and quick how-to lesson with one of the wine experts. Teaching us how to hold the glass correctly (by the stem - so to not warm the wine) how to judge the strength of the wine (by looking for its legs) and how to indicate the different tastes and scents each individual wine has.
After the lesson we were set free to walk around the wine cellars and pick which wines we'd like to taste. some costing 1 token other (more speciality/rare wines) costing up to 5.
We tried a range of red and white wines before making our way into the champagne section to try some vintage bubbles. To finish off we headed down to the spirits section and sampled gin, vodka and absinth.

After all that alcohol we found ourselves needing something to soak it up, so off we went a mere stroll across the road to Borough Markets Southwark Tavern. A classic british pub with good music and a great atmosphere. We feasted on flatbreads, mine a simple Garlic and Mozarella and Holly's a parma ham and cheddar. Both where cooked to perfection, and exactly the carb load we needed! The sweet potato fries where crisp and oh so tasty, then we topped it all off with just a little more wine. I mean now we know how to correctly taste it.....it would be rude not too!

HAIR - My Fashion Blogger TV Debut

Well now the episode has aired I can finally write a blog all about my TV debut as Little Miss Winney!
Back in February I got a call from the producers at BBC asking if I'd be interested in filming for series 2 of 'Hair.'
As you may have guessed...I said yes!
So a few days later I popped on my playsuit, did my makeup and hopped on the tube to central London. I arrived at a cafe close to where the filming was taking place and met the production crew, along with the other five lovely fashion and beauty bloggers that would be filming long side me.
We had coffee, chatted, and got our microphones fitted and off we went.
The filming took place at the prestigious BAFTA headquarters in Piccadilly Circus.
As soon as we got in we were briefed and told who our stylist would be.
A quick touch up in makeup and we were let loose to walk on set and start filming the episode.
The contestants each had one hour to style our hair in a style we had chosen ourselfs using only our explanations and verbal examples to guide them.
I asked for 'Jessica Rabbit Waves' a sort of old hollywood style.
My stylist was Rebecca, a mum of three and part-time hair trainee. She was very nervous at first but I can honestly say she was the loveliest person and we hit it off straight away! Adamant to give me exactly what I wanted we talked for the first ten minutes of the challenge, discussing texture, style and inspiration. Not one hair was touched, something the judges took note of and applauded. Its exactly what I look out for in a great stylist, not someone who goes off on a tangent and does what they feel is right, she did it way I had asked and we chatted throughout and exchanged opinions, altering here and there.
As the hour came to a close presenter - Katherine Ryan shouted to 'Step away from the hair!' It was done, nothing more could be pinned, tucked, curled or sprayed, It was judging time.
The expert judges, Denise McAdam  Alain Pichon then bought each blogger and stylist forward for critique. Denise was very impressed with Rebecca's work and other than the odd pointer and tip was over-all happy with the outcome, as was I!
After we wrapped in the salon we were driven off to London Fashion Week's On/Off party held at the famous Cuckoo Club.
There we were interviewed and pictured whilst enjoying the fashion show the music and the odd cocktail or two.
I had a fabulous time and met some great people.

OOTD - Boom Burger - Notting Hill

So it's official! I'm obsessed with PrettyLittleThing.
Not only did I pretty much dress head to toe in it for the recent Disaronno event I attended (see the blog here) but I recently discovered this amazing jacket!
Now if I'm honest pink isn't a colour I often wear and its definitely a shade that is M.I.A in my wardrobe, but for some reason I was drawn to it straight away.
I adore the pastel tone, the shape, the loose collar and the sleeveless aspect means its a perfect summer cover up. I wore it recently for a trip to Notting Hill with my friend Yasmin, it blended in perfectly with the colourful houses and buildings so I couldn't help but have a mini photo-shoot.
Strike a pose!

Putting the Boom in Boom Burger, Yasmin and I feasted on burgers, fries, fritters and of course rum punch! Now I love a burger, I consider myself quite the connoisseur and Boom Burger in Notting Hill is possibly the best I've ever tasted and I've tasted a lot!

Disaronno Terrace - 2015

Disaronno, the saviour of my nights out!  Whether it be with coke, cranberry (tastes like cherry bakewell) or in a Disaronno sour cocktail, it is always my go to drink.
Last week I went along to the #DisaronnoTerrace launch party. Held at the Golden Bee in Shorditch, the summer night was filled with music, drinks and of course, dancing.

bareMinerals - California Road Trip

Being a huge fan of bareMinerals, I was super excited to be invited to their 'California Road Trip' event to celebrate 20 years of makeup and the launch of their latest foundation 'Blemish Remedy.'
I love makeup, but at the same time I prefer a natural look. This is where bareMinerals excel! Beautiful products that not only enhance your skin but looks after it too!
Believe it or not its been 20 years since the launch of their 'Original SPF 15 Foundation.' To celebrate they've created a limited edition pot and brush that will add sparkle to any makeup bag.

Whilst at the event, I browsed all of the beauty products and brushes they had to offer. Some I knew and regulary use as a part of my current beauty regime and some that I didn't. Along with the new 'Blemish Remedy' which is due to hit stores in September, I also fell in love with their 'Complexion Rescue.' After a colour match and a mini makeover at the pop up makeup station, I was ready to go. Goodie bag in hand, ready to put the makeup to the test.
Review coming soon...
